Affordable home internet for job applications - any advice?

My home internet costs more than I can manage on unemployment. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I heard of low-cost plans for people with limited income. What else should I consider?

Keep the number you use for job applications, even if you change plans. Employers will call it.
