Worth paying for a certificate? - what worked for you?

I am considering a short certificate to improve my chances as a paralegal. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I can study evenings. Did a certificate help you get hired?

Check a dozen job postings first. If most ask for the same certificate, it is probably worth it.

The workforce centre told me about training funds I qualified for. It covered most of my course.
