Worth paying for a certificate? - what worked for you?

I saw that many postings ask for a specific certification. I am in Seattle, in case local advice matters. I would like to use funding if possible. Which ones are overrated?

Check a dozen job postings first. If most ask for the same certificate, it is probably worth it.
