Worth paying for a certificate? - what worked for you?

I am considering a short certificate to improve my chances as a software tester. Any experience at all would help. I would like to use funding if possible. Which ones are overrated?

Ask the course provider how many graduates get jobs and where. Honest providers can tell you.

Check a dozen job postings first. If most ask for the same certificate, it is probably worth it.
