Worth paying for a certificate?, payroll clerk here

I am considering a short certificate to improve my chances as a payroll clerk. I do not usually post, so bear with me. I can study evenings. Did a certificate help you get hired?

The workforce centre told me about training funds I qualified for. It covered most of my course.

Check a dozen job postings first. If most ask for the same certificate, it is probably worth it.
