Worth paying for a certificate? (Atlanta)

I saw that many postings ask for a specific certification. It has been a long 20 weeks. I am unsure whether employers value it. Did a certificate help you get hired?

Check a dozen job postings first. If most ask for the same certificate, it is probably worth it.
