Worth paying for a certificate? - any advice?

I saw that many postings ask for a specific certification. There are 6 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I would like to use funding if possible. Which ones are overrated?

Ask the course provider how many graduates get jobs and where. Honest providers can tell you.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
