Worth paying for a certificate? after 8 years as a forklift operator

I saw that many postings ask for a specific certification. I am in Hartford, in case local advice matters. I am unsure whether employers value it. Which ones are overrated?

The workforce centre told me about training funds I qualified for. It covered most of my course.
