Worth paying for a certificate? after 18 years as an administrative assistant

I am considering a short certificate to improve my chances as an administrative assistant. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I can study evenings. Which ones are overrated?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.

The workforce centre told me about training funds I qualified for. It covered most of my course.
