Worth paying for a certificate? after 17 years as a recruiter

I saw that many postings ask for a specific certification. There are 17 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I am unsure whether employers value it. Did a certificate help you get hired?

Ask the course provider how many graduates get jobs and where. Honest providers can tell you.
