Worth paying for a certificate? after 16 years as a software tester

I am considering a short certificate to improve my chances as a software tester. It has been a long 21 weeks. I am unsure whether employers value it. Which ones are overrated?

Check a dozen job postings first. If most ask for the same certificate, it is probably worth it.
