Worth paying for a certificate? after 12 years as a dental hygienist

I am considering a short certificate to improve my chances as a dental hygienist. I have been trying to stay organised about it. I am unsure whether employers value it. Is there free funding?

Check a dozen job postings first. If most ask for the same certificate, it is probably worth it.
