Worth paying for a certificate? - 3 months and counting

I saw that many postings ask for a specific certification. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I am unsure whether employers value it. Which ones are overrated?

The workforce centre told me about training funds I qualified for. It covered most of my course.
