Worth paying for a certificate?

I am considering a short certificate to improve my chances as a teaching assistant. It has been weighing on me all week. I would like to use funding if possible. Did a certificate help you get hired?

Check a dozen job postings first. If most ask for the same certificate, it is probably worth it.

The workforce centre told me about training funds I qualified for. It covered most of my course.
