Who do I ask for a reference after a layoff?

Kenji Jansen · 2026-09-09T23:05:54.807Z

I worry a reference will only confirm dates of employment. There are 15 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. HR only confirms titles and dates. Who did you use?

Ask former colleagues and supervisors in a short message and give them a summary of the job you are applying for.
