Which short course helped you get hired? - any advice?

I am considering a short certificate to improve my chances as a medical assistant. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I am unsure whether employers value it. Did a certificate help you get hired?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.

Check a dozen job postings first. If most ask for the same certificate, it is probably worth it.
