Weighing a contract offer against waiting (update)

A permanent role may come up, but the contract starts now. I am in St. Louis, in case local advice matters. The contract could extend. Did a contract become permanent?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 7 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
