Weighing a contract offer against waiting (update)

I got a contract offer for 5 months as a line cook and I am unsure whether to accept. Thank you in advance. I have 12 months of savings left. What would you do?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.

I took a contract and it converted after four months. The time also kept my skills current.
