Weighing a contract offer against waiting - first time posting

A permanent role may come up, but the contract starts now. I am in Fresno, in case local advice matters. The contract could extend. Did a contract become permanent?

Buy coverage through the marketplace if the contract has none. I budgeted for it before signing.

Ask about extension likelihood and whether the team has hired contractors before.
