Weighing a contract offer against waiting - first time posting

I got a contract offer for 10 months as a data-entry clerk and I am unsure whether to accept. This is my first time dealing with any of this. I have 6 months of savings left. How did you handle benefits?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
