Weighing a contract offer against waiting - any advice?

I got a contract offer for 14 months as an accounts payable clerk and I am unsure whether to accept. This is my first time dealing with any of this. I would gain recent experience. How did you handle benefits?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.

Buy coverage through the marketplace if the contract has none. I budgeted for it before signing.
