Weighing a contract offer against waiting - any advice?

I got a contract offer for 7 months as a software tester and I am unsure whether to accept. I do not usually post, so bear with me. I would gain recent experience. Did a contract become permanent?

I took a contract and it converted after four months. The time also kept my skills current.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
