Weighing a contract offer against waiting - any advice?

I got a contract offer for 18 months as an insurance claims processor and I am unsure whether to accept. There are 18 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I would gain recent experience. How did you handle benefits?

If savings are low, I would accept and keep applying. You can leave for a permanent role if one appears.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
