Weighing a contract offer against waiting - any advice?

I got a contract offer for 18 months as a production planner and I am unsure whether to accept. Any experience at all would help. I have 6 months of savings left. How did you handle benefits?

Buy coverage through the marketplace if the contract has none. I budgeted for it before signing.
