Weighing a contract offer against waiting - any advice?

The pay is fair but there are no benefits. I am in Buffalo, in case local advice matters. I have 13 months of savings left. Did a contract become permanent?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 13 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.

I took a contract and it converted after four months. The time also kept my skills current.
