Weighing a contract offer against waiting after 8 years as a janitorial supervisor

A permanent role may come up, but the contract starts now. I am in Columbus, in case local advice matters. The contract could extend. What would you do?

If savings are low, I would accept and keep applying. You can leave for a permanent role if one appears.
