Weighing a contract offer against waiting after 5 years as a bank teller

I got a contract offer for 5 months as a bank teller and I am unsure whether to accept. I worked as a bank teller before this. I would gain recent experience. Did a contract become permanent?

I took a contract and it converted after four months. The time also kept my skills current.
