Weighing a contract offer against waiting after 14 years as a paralegal

I got a contract offer for 14 months as a paralegal and I am unsure whether to accept. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. The contract could extend. What would you do?

If savings are low, I would accept and keep applying. You can leave for a permanent role if one appears.
