Weighing a contract offer against waiting

I got a contract offer for 5 months as a machine operator and I am unsure whether to accept. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. The contract could extend. What would you do?

If savings are low, I would accept and keep applying. You can leave for a permanent role if one appears.

Ask about extension likelihood and whether the team has hired contractors before.
