Weighing a contract offer against waiting - 6 months and counting

I got a contract offer for 3 months as a web developer and I am unsure whether to accept. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. I have 6 months of savings left. How did you handle benefits?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
