Weighing a contract offer against waiting - 5 months and counting

I got a contract offer for 14 months as a forklift operator and I am unsure whether to accept. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. The contract could extend. How did you handle benefits?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 5 months ago, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
