Weighing a contract offer against waiting - 19 weeks in

I got a contract offer for 8 months as a logistics coordinator and I am unsure whether to accept. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. I would gain recent experience. What would you do?

I took a contract and it converted after four months. The time also kept my skills current.

Buy coverage through the marketplace if the contract has none. I budgeted for it before signing.
