They asked my salary range, what should I say? after 5 years as an office manager

A recruiter asked for my salary expectations on a first call as I look for work as an office manager. Any experience at all would help. I looked up ranges in Buffalo and they vary a lot. How do you research fairly?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.

I gave a range based on local postings and said I was flexible depending on the whole package. They did not push back.
