Temp-to-hire offer, worth it? - what worked for you?

I got a contract offer for 13 months as a welding apprentice and I am unsure whether to accept. This is my first time dealing with any of this. I have 11 months of savings left.

I took a contract and it converted after four months. The time also kept my skills current.

Buy coverage through the marketplace if the contract has none. I budgeted for it before signing.
