Temp-to-hire offer, worth it? - what worked for you?

A permanent role may come up, but the contract starts now. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I have 8 months of savings left. What would you do?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
