Temp-to-hire offer, worth it? - what worked for you?

I got a contract offer for 7 months as a marketing coordinator and I am unsure whether to accept. It has been a long 20 weeks. I have 5 months of savings left. Did a contract become permanent?

I took a contract and it converted after four months. The time also kept my skills current.
