Temp-to-hire offer, worth it? - what worked for you?

I got a contract offer for 18 months as a data-entry clerk and I am unsure whether to accept. It has been a long 14 weeks. I would gain recent experience. Did a contract become permanent?

Buy coverage through the marketplace if the contract has none. I budgeted for it before signing.
