Temp-to-hire offer, worth it? (update)

I got a contract offer for 8 months as a quality inspector and I am unsure whether to accept. Any experience at all would help. The contract could extend. What would you do?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
