Temp-to-hire offer, worth it? (update)

The pay is fair but there are no benefits. There are 3 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I have 13 months of savings left. Did a contract become permanent?

Buy coverage through the marketplace if the contract has none. I budgeted for it before signing.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 13 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
