Temp-to-hire offer, worth it? (update)

A permanent role may come up, but the contract starts now. There are 9 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I have 8 months of savings left. What would you do?

If savings are low, I would accept and keep applying. You can leave for a permanent role if one appears.
