Temp-to-hire offer, worth it? - first time posting

I got a contract offer for 7 months as a software tester and I am unsure whether to accept. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I would gain recent experience. Did a contract become permanent?

I took a contract and it converted after four months. The time also kept my skills current.
