Temp-to-hire offer, worth it? (Boston)

I got a contract offer for 6 months as a welding apprentice and I am unsure whether to accept. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. I would gain recent experience. How did you handle benefits?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.

If savings are low, I would accept and keep applying. You can leave for a permanent role if one appears.
