Temp-to-hire offer, worth it? - any advice?

A permanent role may come up, but the contract starts now. There are 7 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I have 14 months of savings left. Did a contract become permanent?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.

Buy coverage through the marketplace if the contract has none. I budgeted for it before signing.
