Temp-to-hire offer, worth it? after 9 years as an insurance claims processor

I got a contract offer for 9 months as an insurance claims processor and I am unsure whether to accept. I am in Honolulu, in case local advice matters. I would gain recent experience. Did a contract become permanent?
