Temp-to-hire offer, worth it? - 26 weeks in

I got a contract offer for 17 months as a customer-service rep and I am unsure whether to accept. Any experience at all would help. The contract could extend. Did a contract become permanent?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 2 months ago, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
