Salary expectations: how do you answer? - what worked for you?

I have been out of work for 7 weeks and feel pressure to accept less. There are 6 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I looked up ranges in Boise and they vary a lot.

Benefits matter too. A slightly lower rate with better coverage was better for me.
