Salary expectations: how do you answer? after 5 years as a janitorial supervisor

I have been out of work for 8 weeks and feel pressure to accept less. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. I looked up ranges in Pittsburgh and they vary a lot. How do you research fairly?
