Salary expectations: how do you answer? after 5 years as a customer-service rep

I do not know whether to give a range or ask for theirs. It has been a long 14 weeks. I also do not want to sell myself short. How do you research fairly?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 3 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
