Salary expectations: how do you answer? after 14 years as a bank teller

I have been out of work for 14 weeks and feel pressure to accept less. I worked as a bank teller before this. I also do not want to sell myself short. Does giving a range hurt?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
