Returning to work after caring for family - what worked for you?

I stepped out for 6 months to care for a family member and now want to return. It has been a long 9 weeks. I want flexible hours. Are there returnship programmes?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 6 months ago, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
